The demonstration of persecution occurs when, “Throughout the 1930s, the German people witnessed the arrest of Communists, Social Democrats, Jews, and others considered ‘politically unreliable.' They were herded from their homes and workplaces onto trucks and taken to makeshift prisons and concentration camps, often without a trial or even a hearing.” [Political Prisoners 2017]. Instead of accepting their different opinions or at least giving them a trial, the Nazis saw groups such as the communists, as threats to the Authoritarian leadership. In turn, the Nazis took them to concentration camps for hard labor, worked to death and or killed without question.The Nazis also hated the apolitical nature of the Jehovah's Witnesses. While other Germans would actively participate in activities by the German government in addition to oblige to their rules, “ For refusing to be drafted or perform military-related work, and for continuing to meet illegally, increasing numbers of Jehovah's Witnesses were arrested, tried by judicial authorities and incarcerated in prisons and concentration camps. By 1939, an estimated 6,000 Witnesses (including some from Austria and Czechoslovakia) were detained in prisons or camps.” [Nazi Persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses 2017]. The resistance of joining political matters completely contradicted what the Nazis wanted. The Germans had completely unaccepted the lack of nationalism.
