During WW2 many medical experiments were conducted on concentration camp prisoners. One of the most famously known of the medical staff at the concentration camps was Josef Mengele. Josef was sometimes referred to as the “Angel of Death” or the “White Angel” because of how strict he was when deciding who he would take with him. Josef was also known for conducting painstaking and typically deadly experiments on concentration camp prisoners (Josef Mengele). One Experiment was conducted to find the cure for hypothermia and to help German soldiers during the winter. Test subjects were placed in freezing weather and then were either reheated by sunlamp, internal irrigation, or a hot bath. His research on twins was especially well known. While working at Auschwitz Josef had a license to kill and very rarely did otherwise. Through experimentation and specific forms of murder Josef was able to identify what certain causes of death looked like internally through an examination after death. Josef also kept the eyes of his test subjects to study eye pigmentation and artificially changing eye color (Josef Mengele). Genetic experimentation was also studied to attempt to prove that the Aryans were not only superior to the non-aryans physically but also genetically. The blood of Gypsies was examined and was said to be physically odd and made them more prone to crime (Medical Experiments).
