People have wondered what it would be like to be living in a Nazi concentration camp at the time they took over half of Europe It was brutal for all the people that did live there back then. There were Germans everywhere scouting for the Jewish or political prisoners that escaped. They were sent to the concentration camps for those people do deal with. Because Balzac, Treblinka, and Auschwitz had many people killed in the camps, much is to be learned about the survivor’s stories and how they gained their freedom.
Belzec and Treblinka were two of the first ones made by the Nazi’s. Balzac was the first one made as a concentration camp, while Treblinka was a labor camp. (World Book 295A).Balzac was created in Poland to hold their large population of Jewish living inside the country. Before America could get to Auschwitz the Nazis made everyone move to the camps Germany. It was called “The Death March.”(World Book 296B) Half of everyone that walked the death march died. Even the ones that did survive soon after died by disease and exhaustion.(Axelrod 14) The ones who did survive the disease and the march were not put in concentration camps, they were put in regular Nazi camps where soldiers slept, but they were cleared out.(World Book 296B) For anyone who stopped on the way to Germany was shot immediately.(Axelrod 14) Soon after U.S. started invading Germany many Jews were taken fast to be killed before they arrived, so there were no witnesses of concentration camps.(World Book 296A) It wasn’t long before the US came rolling into camps taking the survivors and heading back. Finally the Nazi’s were stopped and any concentration camps they made were destroyed by the country they were in.(World Book
