Naval Officer Research Paper

I want to become a Naval Officer because of the people I have met. The American Legion Post 360 is the sponsor for the local Boy Scout troop and working with those members is what made me want to become a Naval Officer. The members of the Legion were wonderful to work with, and when I worked with them they did not focus on themselves. They focused on what they could do to help the project. This attitude is one I would like to have and becoming an officer paves that way as its goal is to create people who focus on completing the project.
As a member of the local scout troop I held the position of Senior Patrol Leader, in this role I led meetings on planning what the troop was doing as well as carrying out those plans. When problems arose I had others around me that did their job well, so together we thought of a different plan and carried that plan out so we could complete our task.

During this trek I was crew leader, and as crew leader I solved problems that our crew encountered. Our crew at the beginning of the trek was split almost evenly into two groups, one part wanted to just hike to the next campsite each day and stay there while the other part wanted to do each activity associated to each campsite. To find a solution to this problem I asked the group to talk the first night when we had the time to do so. During the discussion we had, we discovered the goals of each group. After we found the goals I asked the group to come up with a couple solutions. I took the solutions given to me and decide what parts of each plan I liked and did not like. The next morning I presented the plan to the crew, we tried that plan and it worked for us. There were some issues about timing at various times in the trek, but those got sorted out

Reinstating the Draft During the Vietnam War the public was upset with the military draft policies, even during previous wars there was some debate about the rules. The WWII draft had caused nearly the majority of men that were of age to be sent overseas. Women had to be sent to work leaving families at home and taking over the role of the men. Women were practicing hard labor, putting together planes, weapons, and ammunition; children were even helping. The draft has positive and negative sides, which are constantly being debated by men and women alike.…

Some people say that the Marine Corps is becoming a second Army, that is simply not the case. Since the Gulf War the Marine Corps has been being deployed to areas like Iraq and Afghanistan by helicopter and airplanes, this makes it seem like they are becoming a second Army because of the long term deployments. The Marine Corps says that they do not intend on becoming a second Army, and there was an issued statement from 2011 Defense Secretary Robert Gates “The Marine Corps is not going to turn into a “second Army,” nor will it have to give up its distinctive role as the nation’s 911 force”. Like the statement says the Marine Corps is the first to fight because of the Marine Expeditionary Units they can deploy anywhere in 6 hours.…

I still remember how scared I was when I stepped in to the yellow foot prints when I got off the bus at RTC Great Lakes in 2004. The thought of becoming an officer never even crossed my mind because I always felt that I wasn’t smart enough, tough enough, or big enough. I was afraid to fail because I never stepped outside of my comfort zone. I can now say with certain conviction that it was the Navy, in particular two chiefs that help push me beyond my own expectations. This is what I feel I have to offer as an officer in the United States Navy.…

I want to become a Marine Corps Officer because I believe it takes something else, something great to lead the best and most aggressive fighting force in the world. Marine Corps Officers are the epitome of a great Marine and have to have certain personality traits that distinguish themselves from others and label them as leaders. My father raised me with the mentality that ideals such as integrity and sacrifice are more important in a man than materialistic objects and bad morals. Growing up, I had a lot of experience to gain these traits and even learn new ones like commitment and initiative. In high school, I was on the swim team and played water polo all four years, and my junior year my coach made me Team Captain.…

Often recommended by adult leaders, described to be mature for my age and very responsible, I assumed leadership positions early on. From Den Chief, Quartermaster, Chaplain’s Aide, to Senior Patrol Leader, in charge of leading the entire troop of over 100 boys, I had the opportunity to influence younger scout to progress through the ranks and focus on the vision of becoming an Eagle Scout. As they achieved more for themselves, they, in turn, promulgate the Eagle Scout vision and helped others rise in the troop. The additional time I dedicated on numerous community service projects motivated younger scouts to also go beyond the call of…

There are many differences between military individuals and civilians but today I’m gonna talk about the diference between military and civilian college students. This shows that even though they are all students at a similar campus, they have their own views, attitudes and opinions towards things. To start off with, one reason that shows that military students are different from civilian students is that we don’t complain over simple things. For example during my walks around campus I hear civilian students complaining over ridiculous matters, such as having to waking up early, that their outfits don’t look good enough or theres something with the food they buy from the cafeteria.…
