I think that the development of the Hydrogen bombs was a smart move to make. I say that because if the United States understands how a powerful weapon works and some of the effects it has on the environment and health, they can potentially plan for those effects if they should ever arise. What I mean when I say this is you wouldn’t want the US to be placed into the same position, as the Japanese were when they first encountered the first atomic bombs in war. Even if we never deploy or use the Hydrogen bomb, it would be very smart of us to have plans in place for if we were ever attacked with such a weapon. Another reason why I think we should have developed the Hydrogen bomb was to prepare for a war that we have never experienced, meaning that…

The nuclear envelope is a double-layered membrane that encloses the contents of the nucleus during most of the cell's lifecycle. The outer nuclear membrane is continuous with the membrane of the rough endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and like that structure, features numerous ribosomes attached to the surface. The outer membrane is also continuous with the inner nuclear membrane since the two layers are fused together at numerous tiny holes called nuclear pores that perforate the nuclear envelope. These pores regulate the passage of molecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm, permitting some to pass through the membrane, but not others. The space between the outer and inner membranes is termed the perinuclear space and is connected with the lumen…

The Improved Nuclear Device is different than the nuclear bombs in the US and Russian military arsenals is the “dose response”. With an Improvised Nuclear Devise, it cannot be determined as to the overall affect it will have when designated, specifically, when other chemicals, fissions, etc. to detonate the “dirty bomb”. “When an IND explodes, it gives off four types of energy: a blast wave, intense light, heat, and radiation” (CDC). Therefore, the overall affect can have short term or long-term effects on those within the proximate area of the explosion.…

in the wake of World War II, in a move closely related to the beginnings of the Cold War, the United States of America decided to resume nuclear testing in the Pacific Ocean, on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall archipelago. After the displacement of the local inhabitants, 67 nuclear tests were carried out from 1946 to 1958, including the explosion of the first H-bomb (1952). Bikini Atoll has conserved direct tangible evidence that is highly significant in conveying the power of the nuclear tests, the sunken ships sent to the bottom of the lagoon by the tests in 1946 and the gigantic Bravo crater. Equivalent to 7,000 times the force of the Hiroshima bomb, the tests had major consequences on the geology and natural environment of Bikini Atoll and…

How a Geiger counter works is when Radiation is moving around randomly or coming out of a tested radioactive substance outside the detector tube, the radiation enters the gap on the end of the tube. When the radioactive nuclei and the inert gas molecules(this is found in the tube) bump into each other it causes ionization, some of the gas molecules are turned into positive ions and electrons, the positive ions are attracted to the outside of the tube. The electrons are attracted to a metal wire running down the inside of the tube maintained at a high positive voltage. Many electrons travel down the wire making a burst of current in a circuit connected to it. The electrons make a meter needle deflect and you can hear a click every time radioactive…

It felt so weird, being on the grownup side of life today, thus I stood face-to-face with a thought, “Are you certain this is what you desire to do?”…
