Naval Academy Personal Statement

My interest in the Naval Academy and the fleet began as just another college option. I have not had any family member serve in the Navy and was rather indifferent to military service, other than my admiration for the men and women who serve. As I continued to explore my options, the Naval Academy remained on the backburner until I visited for the summer STEM program two years ago. As soon as I first walked on post, I instantly knew I loved it--the beautiful old architecture, the shimmering blue water, and the white-clad Midshipmen marching crisply down Stribbling. This past summer, when I visited again for NASS, I decided the Naval Academy was the one for me. In the future, I know that I want to be someone that is great, someone that serves, that profoundly impacts the lives of others, and leaves the world a better place. The Naval Academy has a reputation for rolling out men and women of great character, mass producing the great leaders of the future. I want to be part of this legacy; I want to be a great leader by serving my country and the other great men and women that serve. …show more content…
I was an angry, confused, very sad ten year old who did not realize how a marriage between two people who had loved each other for seventeen years could just fall apart. Then I found out: my dad had cheated on my mom, had been for several years. I do not believe I have to explain how much this hurt my mom (I honestly do not think I could), and as a young kid whose mom had always been there for him, I wanted to do everything I could to help make her happy. The most important thing she ever said to me is, “tell the truth, no matter if it hurts you or not.” This experience made me realize that not only is being honest the right moral thing to do, my words also affect others. I refuse to be the person in the future who hurts someone else by being dishonest, or anything less than a man of honor and

Everybody has done something about which they are proud, whether it be winning a competition, sacrificing their time to helps others, or achieving a personal goal. Looking back on my life, there are several accomplishments of which I am quite proud. I I have completed The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) Bootcamp. It is a U.S. Navy-based organization that serves to teach individuals about the sea going military services, U.S. naval operations and training, community service, citizenship, and an understanding of discipline and teamwork. Each Cadet must attend NSCC recruit training, which serves to introduce each "recruit" to the standards and routine involved in the life of a Sea Cadet.…

During my senior year of high school, I participated in an Office of Naval Research sponsored competition called SeaPerch. SeaPerch pits teams of students against each other to create a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and complete a series of underwater challenges. Every day for the majority of my senior year, I would go from school to work and then home, where I spent every moment of my free time working on my team’s ROV. Countless hours were spent devising new ideas, testing them, and watching them sink uselessly to the bottom of my testing tank. On competition day, however, our team excelled, scoring third out of over 50 teams.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

I majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, so through convention teaching methods I have gained a firm grip in the Social Sciences; however, its through my work experience that I have really grown.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…
