Nahlas work sample is at progressing towards Stage A2 of writing on the Continuum. Nahla understands the purpose of the task which is to write an advertisement about the circus and uses appropriate language to write it. In doing this task however she does include a personal comment within the text. Nahla’s work sample includes imperatives as well as some high frequency words. This could be because according to EAL companion (year)“students use their developing oral base and reading repertoire when writing their own texts.”(p. 16) .She also uses a variety of tenses in her writing an example of this is when she wrote came instead of come.
