Nature VS. versus Nurture There has been many arguments about which effects a person more, nature or nurture. There are a lot of studies done on this topic and so much evidence. Most people believe that if you raise a child a certain way and behaves well they would say it’s the way he was raised, so it’s nurture. Then there are some people that say it’s nature and it’s based on who his parents are. And there are some that say it’s both. First of all, many people believe that it’s a person’s nature that makes them who they are. When you think of the nature of a person it’s referring to their genes. For example, a person’ eye, skin, and color is determined by genes and can’t be influenced by any outside things. Another example would be a person’s height and thought processes. When you think of nature you don’t think of a person’s personality because their personality would be determined by what they’re around but some do believe that that is the case. When you think about nurture you think about how the child was raised and how their parents treated them as they grew up. A major figure during the enlightenment agreed with this very strongly and called it “tabula rasa”, which means blank slate. What he was basically saying was that when everyone is born, they are born with a clean slate and the parents and everyone else puts into their minds anything and the child acts like what he is around. Other characteristics of a person that can be explained by nurture is a person’s accent and they mimic what they are around. Then there are others who say it can be
