Essay On Nature Vs Nurture

Nature vs. Nurture is a question that many people have debated over for years. Are people influenced more by their genetics or by what their surroundings are and how they were raised? Many people believe a person is solely impacted by their genes, while many others believe it is completely up to a person’s environment. However, I believe that everyone’s behavior is affected by both nature and nurture. Even though I believe both genes and environment play a role in who a person is, I believe that nurture plays a larger role that nature. In my life, the things that have the biggest impact on my behavior are my parents, my friends, my church, my school, and the Bible.
Both of my parents play a large role in my life because they are people I look up to. Not only did they raise me to obey and to be a person of my word, they are always there to help me whenever I am going through something difficult in my life. They always told me as a child to do what I am told and that if I didn’t, I would suffer the consequence of my disobedience. Because they made sure that was instilled in me as a child, I now do what I am told to the best of my ability and try to avoid ever disobeying the rules I have been given. …show more content…
My friends and I often act similar because we constantly spend time with each other so we pick up on the small things each person does and do them ourselves without noticing. My friends influence other things such as my taste in music. This is because they all give their opinions on what I listen to, and, without realizing it, I find myself often going along with their opinion even if it wasn't mine to begin with. I believe friends have a large impact on who people are because of the desire to be liked and accepted.
