Nature vs. Nurture Many people have argued that homosexuality is either nature or nurture. Nature meaning that someone is born into it or nurture meaning that someone is raised up into it. Both have great evidence to support the argument, but there is no way that someone can be born gay. A study conducted in 1993 suggested that there was a possible gay gene. It also said that there was an alcoholism gene as well as a warrior gene. Genes cannot always control behavior, what genes can do, in some cases, is to create a tendency to develop or display certain traits or behavior. Being gay is not nature it is nurture. The environment they grow up in has a major impact on their lives, because it is full of causes for homosexuality. If a child grows up in a homosexually family, they are more likely to be gay. P If a child watches enough television about gay people, then they might get the idea that homosexuality is okay. If someone is born gay, then how do they explain bisexual and transgender people. Bisexuals like both sexes. How can someone be born gay if there is proof that some people like both sexes? Life is full of choices and people are responsible for their own actions. Can people be born gay or raised up to be gay? There is plenty of evidences for the argument on both sides, but overall nurture wins. Parents can cause children to have homosexual traits. If they have a lack of a father figure or even resent their mother it can cause homosexual traits. Nature may have a few genetic evidences such as a gay gene. Genes cannot always control behavior; therefore, proving that being born into homosexuality is highly unlikely. Even the education system can influence homosexuality by accepting it. Most children spend about twenty years in school. The environment that a child grows up in has a major impact on homosexuality. Who a child is around and what they are around can shape anyone of them. Every person is responsible for his/her own life. So being gay is nurture not
