The nature aspect of intelligence is derived from leading research that was conducted during a twin study. Intelligence is inherited and twin studies show that genetics also have a stronger influence on intelligence. Pertaining to the controversial topic of nature vs. nurture many people would like to believe that the subject is completely black and white, but “The study of over 212 twin studies that examined the heritability of intelligence concluded that 85 percent of identical twins raised together, and 74 percent of identical twins raised apart, had the same IQ, compared with much lower percentages for siblings raised together (45 percent) and apart (24 percent)” (Devlin, Daniels & Roeder, 1997) this indicates that genetics indeed have a major impact on intelligence and when discussing the intellectual factor of nature vs. nurture genes play a key part in one’s mental development or
