Preparing for this exam I got to look through my old papers. I found my first paper (“Technology’s Advancements on Today’s Society”) that I had completely forgotten about and discovered that I had a problem with technology’s effects on humanity at the beginning of the year as well. The ideas had developed in my brain without me even realizing and I ended up writing my last paper “Nature vs. Technology: The Benefits of Unplugging”. I was thoroughly interested about this and discovered that writing about a topic that you are truly interested in makes the research and writing much easier. My last paper, “Nature vs. Technology: The Benefits of Unplugging”, turned out to be a process that I enjoyed and found almost relaxing. The ten pages came

This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

A research paper was given as assignment in my English class. This research activity weights a good percentage of the final grade. Although I have done research papers for previous classes, this project has become special for me because I’m trying to demonstrate to myself how well prepared I am, and also it’s the opportunity to show the abilities attained in previous courses during my time in BCC. Certainly I have to admit that due to all information that I have to compile, this research activity has become like a nightmare for me, but I will put all my effort to contradictorilymake of this paper one of the best papers I ever made. I chose the topic “Have Government actions made New York City safer after 9/11?…

Just like the previous chapters, there are many useful tips that can be used while writing an academic paper. It’s always important to have a purpose for your paper whether it be to explain some phenomenon or a controversial argument, demanding that your side on a possibly sensitive subject be taken. Always consider your audience, which will most likely always be educated as your professor will be the one to read and grade said paper, and while they are your audience, they are also there to provide you with the necessary help to make your paper great. Responses are not my strong point and that is something I will need to work on. I have a difficult time writing in a structure and providing a sufficient amount of evidence, but this chapter has given me enough ideas on how to improve on that and enhance my vocabulary to make my papers more…

While writing these past journals and essays, I feel in many ways I connected with part of the message of Carr's Googley-Technology essay. Carr wrote about the loss of deep reading skills, and the trend of skimming. Carr provided examples of the effects it had on some individuals. When I first read Carr's essay, I felt it was hard to follow, all over the road, long, somewhat tedious. Now, I had to write discussion entries, journals, and work on my essays, most of which were reflective of Carr's essay.…
