Progressivism classrooms allow students to come up with questions then prove and elaborate on the question to find a conclusion. There is little teacher involvement instead stunted need to learn on their own. Tests do not define the children in a progressivism classroom but how they present themselves sin work and projects. Students within the classroom, socially work together to come up with conclusions for their questions. Most activities that take place within a progressivism classroom intergrade and focus on several subjects and skills. One question that I have about this philosophy is if it is appropriate for elementary children. I feel like elementary children have a lot of energy and it might not go as plan but I do believe fifth graders are capable of maintain peace within the classroom. I do like a little bit of strictness with in the classroom by including an essentialist classroom which is a teacher centered philosophy. This philosophy focuses on traditional styles of teaching in which children sit in their desks and listen to the teacher. I feel like many elementary teachers (at least the ones I observed) were focused around this style of classroom because I believe it made the teacher feel more in control and it would be too chaotic. Some other thoughts I have about becoming a teacher is that I’m nervous I won’t know what to do. I fear not having enough knowledge to run a classroom full of students.
