Consuming probiotic food which is food that contains good bacteria is a common trend among consumers due to increase in awareness of healthy eating habits. Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. which is located in Tokyo, Japan is one of the companies that ventured this industry. The roots of their business started by a microorganisms research lead by Minoru Shirota that results a new strengthen bacteria. Well known for their probiotic drink; Yakult, they already emerged their market to other 33 countries in Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia(Yakult (M) Sdn. Bhd,2010). To replace the out-of-date help desk system, Altiris, Yakult decided to search the power of cloud computing. The previous system problem is the employees having a difficulty to adjust the environment. Therefore, the IT staffs need to be effective in handling issues and requests because of the solution lacked functionality. Because of the resources and economical boundaries made it impracticable to implement a new on premise resolution, the staff began searching for an answer. Then, Yakult has implemented BMC Software which is BMC Remedy force Service Desk in their management system. “Since we implemented BMC Remedy force, the number of phone calls to the help desk has dropped by about one third, and the number of e-mail messages has dropped in half. In time, we expect the number of user-submitted issues and requests to increase, which will free up the help desk to work on more complex issues”, said Can Ersoz; Manager Of Information System at Yakult. With the world broad company around the world such as Japan, United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium, these companies provide support services for Yakult in decision making process and service management processes and software(Yakult Europe …show more content…

As functional organization involves the division of labour according to specialized skills (Griffin, 2013), Yakult’s approach to this system brings numerous advantages to the firm. Firstly, performance of team could be maximized because the employees are divided into specific units with expertise on the particular job skills. As problems arise, they can share knowledge and cooperate to each other. Hence, the works assigned can be completed efficiently.
Moreover, their staffs will be placed together according to their expertise. This enables the firm to allocate the specific machineries and equipment effectively according to the number of staff in each department.
