This was drawn from a study which used biological brothers where one was raised in an adoptive family while the other was raised in their biological family. The study found the brothers had different levels of intelligence. This evidence shows strong support for a nurture basis of intelligence (Griffiths, 2015, para. 4). The cultural portion of nurture also has a strong influence on intelligence. There is no gene which results in a higher IQ score in somebody who is Asian compared to somebody who is Caucasian. The only difference is the cultural background and cultural normalities (Swanbrow, 2008, para. 4). It is normal for somebody of Asian descent to have a higher IQ score as well as higher academic achievement. There is strong evidence supporting each side to the controversy. They also each carry their own merits for how they can help somebody learn or understand more about themselves. If intelligence is based on nature, then people can better understand why they may be similar to their parents and siblings in these aspects. If intelligence is based on nurture, then people can further to grow their intelligence by changing their environment in a positive manner. If intelligence is based on a combination, then both of these scenarios are relevant.
