Nature-nurture controversy- An ongoing dispute about the relative contributions of nature (heredity) and nurture (environment) in determining the development of behavior and mental processes.
Nature means that you are using inherited traits or ways of life.
Nurture means that you are using learned behaviors for ways of life etc.
Basically the dispute scientist are having is that are people controlled by nature or the environment.
From my research and understanding the controversy is about whether people act the way that they do or behave the way they do because of how they were born to be or is it because of the environment that they grew up in?
I believe that both play a big role in how

In other words, Dana Dovey restates Dr. Beben Benyamin’s research that nurture (environment) and nature (genes) both play an equal role in deciding one’s personality. The nurture v. nature controversy is one of the most everlasting altercations in the area of the study of the mind. The nature-versus-nurture issue is the scientific, cultural, and philosophical debate about whether human culture, behavior, and personality are caused by nature or nurture. Now the connection of the overproduction of synaptic connections and their subsequent retraction, or pruning with the nature-versus-nurture issue is that they both are heredity. Heredity means the passing of physical or mental characteristics genetically from one generation to another. Also, the connection is that the environment comes to play when it influences the timing and course of pruning. When it comes to the nature-versus-nurture issue, environment comes into play and so does the physical characteristics.…

Twin studies have been an important element in scientific research considering the distinct genetic likeness between identical twins (Dovey, D., 2015). Identical (monozygotic) twins have the same heredity due to the fertilization of one egg by a single sperm, and fraternal (dizygotic) twins develop separately from two ova fertilized by separate sperms, hence with different heredities (Holzinger, K. J., 1929). Even though researchers have recently concluded a combination of genetics and environmental factors is the answer to the Nature vs. Nurture debate, the debate continues in several aspects, such as the formation of diseases, behaviors, and intelligence (Allen, D.M., 2012). Intelligence anticipates future success in life and greatly impacts brain development. Samples…

The issue consists on whether humans are how they are because of their nature or because how they are nurtured during child development. In a 2007 article, McLeod contributes that nature is what humans inherit while nurture is environmental influences. Researches and psychologists who are strong in their position of nature are called nativists. Meanwhile, the researchers and psychologists who agree on nurture are called empiricists (“Nature vs. Nurture, 2007, para.…

There has always been a debate between various psychologist, scientists and philosophers on their own interpretation of how nature vs nature arose concerning human development. In the nature vs nurture debate help by these professionals, the term nature refers to the genes we inherit while the term nurture refers to our outside environment. This to me makes for a valid argument because each one of these have its own contribution to social change. Human development is the scientific study of age-related changes in behavior, thinking, and emotions and personality Breedlove, S. M., Watson, N. V., & Rosenzweig, M. R. (2013). And in order to understand cognitive, emotional, physical and social and education growth that everyone experiences from childhood to adulthood, we have to understand every aspect of human development and how it has benefited different people.…

One argument that has prevailed throughout time and knowledge is the conflict between nature and nurture. This argument proposes that humans are either products of their genes and inherited traits, or of their environment and social relationships. Although many recognize that both nature and nurture play a role in humankind, this conflict still poses an issue till this day (Moore, 2001). This problem was brought to light during the eighteenth-century, also known as the Age of Enlightenment or Age of Reason. As this period promoted an increase of a well-educated society that emphasized reason, people began to investigate human behavior.…
