The topic of illegal immigration never seems to go away or get easier. Illegal immigrates cross our borders, coming over and working taking jobs and greatly effecting Americas economy. Its not a question that illegal immigrates are a problem that need to be dealt with but we must take a look at ourselves and our naturalization process. The process is difficult and tedious and rather than integrating you into this great nation it forces you to wait and dangles your “freedom” in front of you with masks of red tape covered with signs of racism and inequality. If we want to control our immigration situation we have to ease our grip on the generalization that immigrants are bad and making the process fair is a big step in the right direction. People have attacked Latino culture, creating stereotypes of laziness or that they steal jobs from Americans, however this isn’t true. There is no lazy race and no one is purposely stealing anything, it’s the people you have to judge not the race, “a recent New York Times poll found Latino immigrant are hard working, have strong family values…and generally epitomize the American Dream (MAL and LUL 176). We have to remember that how ever many bad illegal immigrants there are, there are also just as many good one who’s lives are made harder by stereotypes about them.
Immigration will always be an issue so long as America is successful; people are attracted to that success. That being said why are we looking for ways to stop immigration when we know that we cant, people obviously will come here whether we want them to or not. So if we don’t want illegal immigrants in our country why don’t we make them legal citizens and allow them to do it. Make the process not easy, but
