In the short story, “To Build a Fire”, the author stated, “ The feeling grew stronger until it became very painful, but the man welcomed the pain” (London 74). The insinct the man felt was pain and pain overcame his strength but his instinct was to take pain as it is. The charcater could have broke down and said it was done with but he learned to accept it and to fight through one of lifes toughest category and its pain. How the two click together is simple beacause in order to have natural instincts you must face the natural emotions and pain dealt to every single person.

My first year was tough only because I have never played before, so I knew I had to get used to the traits of it. So I thought of softball and life and put the two together as the same standards, theres going to be obstacles, criticism, and pain along the way. Softball has given me scars, cuts, and made me bleed but just like the character in “To Build a Fire”, I had to accept the feeling of pain. Even social attitudes and opinions can be shaped by genetic factors. A person’s fondness for roller coasters can be attributed to genes passed along to him or her from a parent. The fears that humans indicate they have can be seen as genetically predisposed survival tactics. "We are survival machines," Richard Dawkins writes in The Selfish Gene, "robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes” (Dee, 2010). As behaviors are practiced by humans, who survive long enough to pass on their traits, certain traits that helped them to survive are imprinted on genes.…
