Natural Hair Vs Perm Essay

Perm Hair vs. Natural Hair
People think that getting a perm is better for your hair but it really isn’t. Getting a perm messes up your hair badly. I have some reasons as to why natural hair is more convenient.
Being natural saves you money because you don't have to keep going back and forth to the beauty shop to get your hair taken care of. A perm on the other hand, you have to always go to the beauty shop and that can become expensive and also hard to maintain. According to atlantablackstar.com,
“It’s no secret that many Black women spend much of their hard-earned money on maintaining their relaxed hair. Monthly or even biweekly trips to the salon can be very expensive, and relaxed hair must be maintained to minimize damage.”

Perms make your hair become damaged, but when your hair is natural its more healthy.
According the atlantablackstar.com,
“It has been proven that non relaxed hair is stronger, extra durable, more nutrient-rich, sheds less and grows faster and with greater ease compared to relaxed hair. Relaxers eventually fry the hair and damage the roots, which can cause alopecia(baldness), hair breakage, scalp irritation, stunted hair growth, and even permanent hair loss.”
The disadvantage to natural hair is that you always have to keep it moisturized or it'll shed. You also have to keep the ends clipped. blackhairmedia.com says that
“Naturals find themselves working over time to maintain in the moisture and shine.”
But if you maintain moisture in your hair and wear protective hairstyles then it wouldn't be a disadvantage to you.
In conclusion, natural hair is better because its more efficient, healthy, and safe. You don't have to worry about going bald but your hair will shed if it isn't moisturized and taken care of. Natural hair is safe and healthy, because in perms the chemicals aren't safe. Permed hair is weaker than natural

This can all occur regardless of how often your hair is cut or how often you take care of it. As hairs come out from your scalp, they will often come back in smaller and smaller. Often, women walk down the beauty aisle of a department and grocery stores and see all types of merchandise for their hair, but not many know what the products are right for them. They see products that promise to rejuvenate dry, damaged hair; volumize limp, flat hair; straighten curly hair, and regenerate thinning hair. With my hair being a kinky curl, when I was younger, I would ask my mother if we could buy relaxers and apply them at home. She would give me the same answer every time, “This should only be performed by a professional if you do not want to ruin your hair.”…
