A few years ago, a US Army 1st Class Sergeant, Rossano Gerald and his twelve year old son, Gregory found that they could not travel for more than thirty minutes without being stopped twice. When they got stopped their second time Rossano’s son was terrorized by a police dog and both him and his father were placed in a non air conditioned police car. The officers shut the cameras off, blasted the heat in their face, and threatened them with a dog again. Racial profiling does not just occur with minorities; it occurs with people of all ages. Believe it or not, racial profiling can occur with older people like your parents or grandparents. A prime example of this occurred in Greensboro with two older black men, Mr. Phillips and Mr.Spears, who had a white police officer pull beside and look at them then eased back behind them and flashed his lights. The officer claimed that they cut him off and had been drinking. Mr. Spears insisted that the officer should give him a drug test and the officer refused to give him one.
