For instance, at the beginning when a free slave came into town Pap spoke saying that he felt it was not right and that they should do something about it. At the time it seemed like Huck agreed with his father. When Huck made his escape from his normal life he began to have some very personal experiences with Jim. Slowly but surely it really seemed that Huck was starting to realize that maybe Blacks are not that different from whites. For instance, at the end of the book where he says, “ And then I knowed the he was white inside,” (Twain 276) proving that his views towards Jim and Blacks had drastically transformed (Twain 276). He really began to realize that maybe what he had grown up being told, might not have been actually true. They might not have completely believed that this was true, but they were slowly beginning to come to the realization that they might not be more superior than Blacks. Minorities, regardless of the type, were greatly mistreated and were seen as animals and not real people. You will always have people that are gullible and believe what they were told regardless and with a lot of them changing the laws did not mean anything.. There are always the select few that take a risk and decide to not get peer pressured into what everyone else said. Like how Huck and John Dunbar originally believed that they were superior and that no minority group could match them, and then as they began to have personal experiences and were influenced by these groups they saw that maybe their was not that much of a difference between these groups. People like that are the type that have the power to change the outlook of a country. They truly show that what society and everyone else says might not always be right. The discrimination was very gruesome and not much can change it, but individuals that had the nerve to go against the crowd and think for themselves were the ones that brought an end to a lot of the discrimination in the
