One way to way to help people appreciate this collection of people is to accurately teach students on the many positive aspects of this culture. We need to all have an open mind to learning more about Native Americans and given them the respect they deserve and much appreciate.
I will try to educate those around me as much as possible. Going forward I will be certain to keep a more open mind to all minority groups and try to sidestep the ethnocentrism Americans seemed to have all settled into.
Relating to my Professional Future
Once I left the experience I grasped how comparable my upbringing and values are to those of the Native American people. Values such as generosity, giving the importance of family and the idea that these people have so much respect for the military as I found that many have served as patriots for this country. They have recognized that throughout their history the Europeans have tried to assimilate them and basically destroy them but they still will fight for this country to defend their people. I find it hard to understand how there can still be racism for this group of people.

Because of our past mistakes of ignoring diversity of the Native Americans they were kicked off much of their land and forced to leave behind many of the traditions they held dear. Still today we preserve many of this historically under-represented groups traditions such as the trails they walked are our roads, some of the first form of government that was implemented came from them. We could have learned much more, such as medicinal properties of plants, hygiene, governance, gender equality and childcare. Still today they need economic resources and considering our past mistakes it should be
