The rivalry between French and the British in North America had a disadvantage effect on the people and the major trading that took place in St. Lawrence River Valley. The war started in the 1700s in Europe and spread to the American colonies (Stoler). The war also changed the social relations between Britain, France, Spain and their colonies. The signing of the Treaty of Paris played a basic role in end of the Indian war, but contributed to British gaining of the France’s possession. However, they did not have significant military equipment because they had mostly planned on indigenous weapons such as bow and arrows. The war was extended to the North America and France joined the war. They went after the assistance from the Native Americans. The only tribe, that side with the British, was the Iroquois, who were still nursing the killing of their chiefs. The native people lost their lives in the war because of lack significant weapons to counter the British. Therefore, they depended on surprise attacks and organized groups.
The signing of the Treaty in 1763 also left Britain with huge national debt. They decided to over tax the Native people in some of the trade such as the one that took place in St. Lawrence Valley. This aspect led to the rise of rebels who were against the high taxation imposed by the British.
