Who colonized America? This is a debated topic in history by all historians. It is said that Native Americans from Asia were the first to migrate west to North America. What some Americans don’t understand are the small societies that make up the Native American people. These societies were much less complex than societies today, but nonetheless they had culture. Throughout modern day Canada, America, and Mexico hundreds of North American tribes resided. These were the first people to discover the resources North American had to offer and the first to make a home on the land we live on today. The first people to live in North America came from Asia migrating over the Bering Strait land bridge. Although the time they arrived is not known for sure, the estimated time is between 12000 and 7000 B.C.E. All hunter-gathers, the North American Indians made their home quick with the abundant resources of the Americas. They quickly adapted to the environment and began very diverse cultures. The Native Americans did not create any empires but they did have fairly complex societies that were able to handle long distance trade, and build their own cities or villages.
