Nationalism is one of the main causes that started the Great War, because of the competitions of territories throughout Europe. It meant that the people were willing to die to strengthen their country. It is a feeling that people have of being loyal and proud of their country often with the belief that it's better and more important than other countries. Nationalism started in Russia. This idea of Nationalism gave confidence to the citizens. This cause led to countries becoming very aggressive towards each other and unforgiving of their nation. Nationalism occurred all through Europe, for example Russia. Russia wanted to get to the Mediterranean Sea in order to have access to a warm water port.
