This is a significant artifact as it officially starts American involvement in the war. This artifact shows a shift in attitudes about the war. Until this point the Americans were only partially aiding the allies by supplying war materials to them. Now, with this request for war coming from the President himself, the dynamic of the war changed for all powers involved. Whether the Germans considered Americans a threat, does not change the new position the allies were in. The Americans brought with them needed war materials: men. Men and materials in Europe were starting to dwindle and become exhausted. America as a whole was largely unaffected by the turmoil and their troops came in with fresh energy and were not war weary. This is important, as the German army has been stretched thin with their resources on the verge of dwindling against and enemy who is newly re-energized is challenging. When visiting a museum, one can go at their own pace and while one can read at their own pace the type of reading is different between a book and a museum label. One can choose which book and topic to read about, unless it is for a class, however, unless he/she decides not to finish it, the whole book is being read. At a museum, one can go at their own pace as there are several different things to read, labels, plaques, and information. One does not need to read everything in the museum; in fact he/she does not have to read at all. One can read as much or as little as they want. There are people who want to absorb all of the information, read about certain events or artifacts, or just observe the artifacts and objects. Museums give a person the option to focus on what intrigues
