The Former United States National Security Advisor state it “There are no Secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure” (BrainyQuote.com, 2017). Any time we are getting ready to do a presentation we have to be well prepare and have a set goal in mind. During this report, first I will provide an example of the best meeting I had attended and why. Then my second point what was the worst meeting I had encountered and why. Thirdly, why most of the briefings and meetings are tend it to be redundant, boring, but crucial. The guidelines of a perfect meeting protocol I believe are fundamental to use.
First of all, the best meeting I had attend it during my military career was during a manning meeting at my current squadron. This meeting was set to be focus and have a specific goal in mind. The time was set at 0900 a.m. The Manager Superintendent of personnel was the speaker. The other parties involved was Program Section manager, Flight line manager, and Home Station Check inspection manager. This meeting only last approximately an hour. The Manager Superintendent set the tone and was specific on what was the rules of engagement. The speaker gave us an agenda to follow on who was going to speak first and so forth.

Having an introduction, body and a conclusion in the briefing will proof the speaker’s plans are organized and will touch every point. The main goal on your briefing should be to persuade your audience and have them buy the information you are trying to sell. Do not overwhelm the audience and focus on 2-5 main points. “You can adapt the layout of a room to suit speaking situation” (pg. 255). By setting the right room arrangement, room temperature and appropriate time can also make a difference from an O.K. briefing to the perfect

The meeting would consist of less than half of the thirteen active members. The members saw their role as overseeing the community center’s wellbeing along with setting new policies failing to review their mission over time. When Leslie addressed the board to extend their meeting time for planning, members only wanted to extend their meeting by a hour rather than a day event to discuss different planning strategies. The board failed to work as a group with all thirteen…

I believe that one of the significant deficiencies from the 9/11 Commission Report was the deficiency of shared intelligence information between, local, state and federal agencies related to homeland security. Before 9/11, law enforcement intelligence was compartmentalized and disjointed. The FBI mainly dealt with domestic threats and the CIA mostly focused on foreign threats. I believe that the most significant function developed was “receiving and analyzing law enforcement information, intelligence, and other information relating to homeland security within the federal government and between the federal government and state and local governments” (Oliver, 2007, pg. 75). Once the 9/11 attack occurred, it was evident that the national security required direct coordination amongst the agencies, for any recovery efforts.…

Pages 6-7, in the 9/11 Commission Report foretell four different stories. For instance, the pages have a brief description of what occurred, during the four flights, those being: Flight 11, 175, 77, and 93. All four of these planes stories are told in a timeline, “… Showing the simultaneous histories of the four hijacked airplanes as they began and completed their horrendous missions” (Hill and Wang 6). It is important that they are being told on a timeline because it allows the reader to get a sequential understanding of what was occurring by the illustration and the textual literacy telling the story.…

Going back to how realism relates to covert action, according to a chapter titled “Covert Action” from a book, Partly Cloudy, the more specified activities in covert actions are divided into three, as follows; “1) Political operations, primarily meaning propaganda and financial support of foreign political leaders, groups, and dissidents; 2) coups d’état; and 3) assassination.” For political operation, it is done during the case when a particular regime has rebel groups that desire a reform within the state. Overt action is always preferred, however, it is often impossible to be done. In this case, if a regime were coveted to change, the reformers would have to work in secret on a daily basis. If these reformers were to be backed by a sponsor from a foreign nation, these sponsors must also…

At the meeting, the scene is a fairly composed one. Leaders from both Chancellor and Auclaire were present and many were exchanging pleasantries and making small talk before the meeting begins. As the two houses had such a close-knit alliance, the openness and friendliness between the leaders was to be expected. The meeting room was a spacious one, that appears it could hold possibly thousands of people. On each of the walls, stood both the symbols of House Chancellor and House Auclaire respectively.…

I was recently invited to attend the Toastmasters meeting in Millington, Tennessee, however I was not entirely sure what to expect. I was, to say the least, surprised at how informal and socially casual the club is. In contrast with a TED talk’s audience, there is no harsh buzzer or overbearing timer to stare at while giving your presentation, the meeting was in fact, very relaxed and only focused on self-improvement. It was a place to hear others and be heard yourself, to give honest feedback, to improve the art of the conversation, and to master the art of public speaking.…

It’s the way that the word gets out; billions upon billions of ideas for business, classroom activities, etc. are spread through presentations. With presentations come some jitters, but Andrew Bradbury states a plan in his book “Successful Presentation Skills (2010)” that winds up to be the first key element to a successful presentation. Having a game plan before stepping on stage in front of an audience sounds like common knowledge, but it’s more than just a game plan. Bradbury (2010) lists a Seven Basic Step to take on any idea. First, the presenter must think about what they want to achieve by presenting, then reflect on if a formal presentation is the best way to get the word out, leading to what form the presentation will take, then the…

-Timing during your presentation: Another important aspect is timing. How long should you take to make your speech? Some think that it should all depend on the subject you want to talk about, which is true; but you should also think about the timing for the speech by asking yourself just how much is enough to inform, entertain or educate people. How much is enough for questions after the speech? How long is long enough, when you are using accessories or tools to help you for your presentation?…

The golden hour is a reflection of the time in which we use to convey a message. The moments in time that are most crucial is defined as the golden hour. Communicators who are not afraid to take risk are the communicators that succeed in effectively conveying a message by seizing the golden hour, because they recognize the importance of the timing of their words rather than a joke or a great outline (Elmore, 2013). How many of you ever rushed through a message without clearly conveying or emphasizing the most crucial points in your message, because of nervousness and lack of confidence in your argument? Being that the definition of the golden hour is the moments in time that are most crucial, we can grasp that time in its entirety is vital…
