National Road Journey

My children, Patrick, and I live with my brother and Ma. We are all from New York City. The house we live in now is a fairly average size, but with my baby on the way, we will not have room for another kid roaming our home. My family and I decided to go to Independence because Patrick and I want to own enough land to support our slowly growing family and there is no way for us to do that while living here. We plan to take the National Road as part of our route to Independence, Missouri.
I have heard the trip is very dangerous and there is a point to where you need to make life or death choices. I know that this journey will be rough and I do not expect any kind of easy outcomes along the way. There will be very hard decisions to make and we …show more content…
There will be tough terrain, but that's what our wagon is made for. Of course, there will be sickness along the way, so that's why we are taking some medicine with us like, comfy leaves, wild lettuce, and willow bark.
To be prepared and ready for anything along the way on the trip, we are taking many reliable things from home. My Ma suggested it would be a good idea to bring a baby cradle since I am carrying and six months along the way. We also decided to bring bedding, a set of dishes, candle sticks, and a couple more essential items with us. Patrick said we must bring the harmonica with us, as the children will be quite bored. As for the animals, we are bringing a milk cow, a couple sheep, a chicken, and oxen. We chose to take oxen rather than horses because they are more reliable and stronger. Although horses would be a quicker method, we are confident that oxen will get the job done just as good as horses would. We are taking a Conestoga wagon for our journey. Our wagon was given to us by my brother. We are taking an extra yoke, cover, and wheels along with us just in case we need to replace any of those
