Perfectly Preserved
For my project I am going to volunteer at the Morongo Valley preserve for National Public Lands Day. National Public Lands Day promotes both popular enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands. To support this national day I will be attending a volunteer service. My teacher will give me the application for our parents to sign on September 20th, when we turn in our essay. On Saturday, September 30th from 8:00am to 2:00pm when the event takes place, my mom will be driving me to Morongo. When I arrive I will introduce myself to the park rangers. During the duration of six hours the park rangers will most likely assign a small group of us to do important tasks to better the environment such as; picking up trash and

Working outside is good exercise. We will be walking along the paths and performing specific tasks, trimming trees, and even collecting trash. The preserve contains very long paths which means very much walking to get our heart rate up. Being outdoors and in the fresh air is good for anyone’s all around mental health. Besides these beneficial parts, volunteering can also have downsides.
The only downside of being outside all day are the small problems I may encounter. Getting sunburnt or cut by the shrubs and trees are just some of the things that we will try to avoid. Another concern that may occur is running into wildlife. It is a possibility that while we are working we may run into different kinds of animals. It is best for my group and I to leave the wildlife alone and continue on with our tasks. As long as we stay aware and cautious the day will carry on with no problems.
In order to assure that I will stay as safe and productive as others I will stay on the walking paths unless told otherwise. Throughout the day while performing I will be sure to follow the procedures and be sure to have the correct equipment. The only safety equipment that may possible be needed is gloves and closed toed shoes. Overall this project will be highly successful as long as we all follow proper procedures. We will be able to make the community of the Morongo Valley preserve looking its

A veteran to me is a patriotic, unselfish, brave, and courageous person, who would sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect our nation. As Jeff Miller once said, “The willingness of America’s Veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Veterans from every country have served throughout many wars. They have put their blood, sweat, and effort into doing the right and beneficial thing for their nation. Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation.…

Surprisingly, the chances of getting killed by a grizzly or black bear in a National Park is only 1 out of 2.1 million. Even though bears seem like a daunting threat to campers and tourist bears are fairly harmless to the majority. Therefore, bears should not be removed from National Parks because the parks not only provide food storage, but there are no recorded deaths by bears in Yosemite park, and the bears help disperse berry seeds.
