National Pancake Day is special because it is sponsored by IHop, and anyone who comes in recieves a free stack of pancakes and are asked politely to donate to the LLS. All of these events need volunteers so you can help with: planning the event, promoting the event, registering participants at the door, and clean up/set up.

It’s 1965, you’re lost in the heart of a small town in Oklahoma, you see a “greasy” young boy get jumped by older, more fortunate boys, who comes to his rescue? Not a superhero in a cape, but a real human, a flawed person with all of their insecurities and past experiences. This is what a real hero looks like. Two unlikely heroes emerge in S.E. Hinton’s young adult fiction, “The Outsiders”. Dally Winston and Darry Curtis are heroes not because they save the town, but because of the little things they do, as Edgar Watson Howe once said, “A boy doesn’t have to go to war to be a hero; he can say he doesn’t like pie when he sees there isn’t enough to go around.”…

I would spend my one million dollars in three very distinct and controversial ways. I would portion the money out to be donated to three different causes. My number one cause is factory jobs going to other countries, which is going to receive six hundred thousand. Second, homelessness would be nonexistent due to people having more jobs and my donation of three hundred thousand. Lastly, the income gap between the rich and poor would be substantially lower and the middle class population would increase dramatically due to more job opportunities in the United States of America and the final donation of my million dollars of one thousand dollars.…

The tale of a hero is one of the most classic of stories, told in various forms throughout the ages. Every hero, classical and modern, has different strengths, weaknesses, and challenges that they demonstrate and face along the way, exhibiting traits that prove them a hero. While there is no doubt that the central figures of the Greek myths of Perseus, Hercules, and Atalanta are all heroes, Hercules, strong both in will and physically, stands as the best example of a classic hero. Heroes are not made without challenges, some of which they face early on in their journey. Hercules and Atalanta meet their first struggle as children, with the goddess Hera sending the former “two great snakes [that] came crawling into the nursery” (Hamilton 228), which Hercules promptly kills, and the latter being “left on a wild mountainside to die of cold and hunger” (Hamilton 246) by her father.…

Traditionally, we think a hero to be someone who is physically strong but over time evolves into someone who is mentally strong. In both The Odyssey by Homer, a story about a great Greek hero and his journey back home to his wife and son, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, a story about a boy who has autism and runs away from home and faces many mental roadblocks along the way, heroic traits are displayed. Both of these books show heroes who emerged and gained strength. Odysseus illustrates incredible physical strength but lacks mental strength.…
