The Wage and Hour Division (Wage-Hour) directs and upholds FLSA concerning private work, State and neighborhood government vocation, and Federal representatives of the Library of Congress, U.S. Postal Service, Postal Rate Commission, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. The FLSA is authorized by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management for workers of other Executive Branch organizations, and by the U.S. Congress for secured representatives of the Legislative Branch.
Unique standards apply to State and nearby government work including fire assurance and law authorization exercises, volunteer administrations, and compensatory time off rather than money extra time pay.
