National Junior Honor Society Essay

I am honored and excited to be considered for the National Junior Honor Society. I would love to be a part of this organization because it would provide opportunities for me in the future. Also it can give me a sense of community. I can promote all of the NJHS tenets but I am only going to write about service, character and scholarship. I feel I already work hard at exhibiting these principles in my everyday life. I would like to explain how I demonstrate, service, character and scholarship.
For service, I participate in a number of volunteer roles. Two activities that are close to my heart are, Ivy Hill Equestrian Center and fund raising for the Christopher Court Foundation. I enjoyed my two years volunteering at Ivy Hill. I love animals and it was very rewarding helping those less fortunate than myself get enjoyment from riding the horses. I created a bond with many of the riders. Every year I help organize and facilitate a bake sale for the Christopher Court Foundation. All of the money raised goes to CHOP to fund childhood brain tumor cancer research. A close friend in my neighborhood lost her son to brain cancer, he was only 7 years old. In my everyday life I try to live by example in treating others with kindness and respect. I am honest and hardworking in school and outside of school. My family has taught me that you should always treat others as you would like to be treated. I find I get a more positive response from others when I treat them kindly. When faced with a situation where people are not treating me with respect I try to treat them with kindness. I feel they could learn by my example. We are all considered leaders in life.
