Each semester I have received Distinguished Honors roll at my school. My accumilative GPA is 4.000. Next year, as a senior, I plan to take AP classes to better prepare me for a college education. In the future, I hope to attend UW Madison to major in an undecided area of engineering. I enjoy math and computing problems, and I cannot wait to apply my knowledge in a future career.

Along with academics, I also spend my time participating in co-curricular activities. These activities include sports- basketball, volleyball, and softball- and other school clubs -forensics, FFA, and FBLA. I partake in these activities for the learning experience, but also to be part of more and more teams. I believe working with others to accomplish a goal helps construct many valuable life skills such as communication, patience, and being organized.

I have very few amounts of spare time, but if I ever get the chance to use that time for helping others, I am more than glad to give it up. Most activities I do for my community, I do with my teams. For volleyball and basketball, we take a Monday off from practice once or twice a year to help at the local food pantry. The Highland High School band and choir have both gone to Bloomfield Manner multiple times to play music or sing carols to the

Every year I am elected to be class president. I believe the class votes for me because they know I am responsible and they trust me with the class actions. Another role of leadership I have had was being a member of the AAL (Advanced Association of Leaders). Our student counselor asked eight of us to join the association that she erected to benefit the attitude in our school. Mrs. Hessling chose us because we were the role models for the younger kids and examples for our peers. Those are the leadership roles that had a title. Informally, whenever I am in a group, I like to think of myself as a leader. I like to know the agenda in which the project will be executed, and also put input of various ways to improve the project. I am not one to watch the work be done by others. After the many experiences of being a leader I have learned to be open to other’s ideas because they may have a different viewpoint of the project which may be a better viewpoint than my

Ideas I can bring to the National Honors society based on scholarship is volunteering for a non profit organization for an event that is held in the community. Spending time on helping others shows that not only you care about yourself but you also care about others in the community. When you work hard you don't expect an award the main objective is to make an impact. You show that making a change on an issue shows how committed and willing you are to spare your own time to contribute to an organization. I represent scholarship by being involved on service learning opportunities that are held in school or events held outside..…

Many of the organizations that I am involved in, including FFA, 4-H, and LYO, take part in several service projects throughout the year. As a result, I have been involved in multiple community service activities over the course of my high school career, such as taking a week-long mission trip to Nashville, Tennessee this past summer, or just spending an evening during the holiday season Christmas caroling around town. Although some people aren't always willing to give up their time to help others, I believe that an essential aspect of being a member of a community is being willing and able to devote your time to helping others. It helps you develop positive relationships, and it lets the people you're helping know that there are places they can turn to for support. It helps you build up your responsibility, reliability, and work ethic, and it provides community members with a chance to establish lasting connections with one another.…

The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…

Not only do all members of National Honor Society practice healthy academic careers, share a commitment to servicing our community, and demonstrate effective leadership, they also showcase exemplary characters that are observed by their advisors and peers. Despite contrary belief, character is not only defined by who you are when no one is watching; it is who you are at all times. You present your character when you are when you are alone in a room, in a busy crowd, with your teammates on the field, and sitting down at dinner with your family. It is a measure of your person that is determined by both the appearances and meanings behind your thoughts, words, and actions.…

National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that promotes the four pillars: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Most of all, it is an organization where we should combine team work to improve our community, not an extracurricular we put in our college applications. Throughout my years in NHS, I have seen people join the club and run for leadership positions solely to increase their chances in college admissions. However, to me, NHS is an organization that I desire to improve upon by not only offering alternatives for point opportunities, but incorporating activities that benefit the community.…

Although college honors programs may attract entitled students, these programs only accept those who challenge themselves at the caliber of which the college expects of their honors students. Accepted students do not only exhibit academic excellence, but dedication as well. Being grouped with the best of the brightest is hard work; it is not something that is just handed out. College honors programs search for scholars whose determination, rather than their privileges, has led them to success. This creates a diverse and stimulating academic environment within the honors program.…
