National Honor Society

For the first two years of my highschool career I had done very little with the school. I occasionally volunteered for the spirit week events, such as building a homecoming float. However, at the end of my sophomore year I realized that I could be involved with much more. With this in mind, I decided to run for class president and somehow I had won the election. As a result of this, I began to get more involved with the school. From this I also learned of a club called the National Honor Society. I discovered that this organization is really about volunteering for the local community. So I applied in my junior year but was denied for reasons unknown still today. However, because of this it got my head in the right place so I took it upon myself

Washburn National Honor Society Chapter: Statement of Purpose Regarding the Washburn Memorial Library Today, February 12, I am here to address you about the Washburn Memorial Library: I, Julia Dahlgren, Vice President and representative of the Washburn National Honor Society, am here this evening to discuss the issue of closing the Washburn town library. Our community rests upon the fragile structures of historical monuments and the atmosphere that we, as Washburn residents, have provided to our little town. By continuously reprimanding vital elements of Washburn, we are not only stripping away the essence of “small town living” but we are also losing parts of ourselves: our bank has faltered, our schools are struggling, our recreation department…

I would be a great candidate of the Anne M Dorner middle school chapter of the National Junior Honor Society because I demonstrate scholarship, service, character, citizenship, and leadership in my everyday life. Some of the committee has already noticed my scholarship because they have identified me as having a high academic performance. What the committee might not know is that I have been participating in the STEP program since 7th grade. My service to help the community of Ossining and to show service is by the following, altar service, soccer modified team manager, and I like to lead running and warm-ups for soccer. I also help in my school by helping classmates in what I can, and working in groups and getting the job done.…

I am qualified to be a part of the 2016 National Honor Society because of my hard work and willingness to do anything for anyone. As an Honors student, I work hard for the grades I earn and study for hours. In my free time I try to do as much as I can for anyone else. Working hard for my goals may come along with a challenge, but I can overcome anything as long as I put my mind to it. Over the summer, I found myself taking care of someone else’s pets and house.…

Teddy Roosevelt once said that nothing worth having comes easy. With this in mind, I have actively spent my high school years working to ensure that my success and achievements are fruits of hard work and perseverance, rather than sheer luck. These past four years, I have dedicated my young mind to absorbing the valuable knowledge that pools before me in my rigorous AP courses. In addition, I also invested a good portion of my time into my school’s band program. Although balancing academics and such a demanding extracurricular activity was difficult, I managed to find the time to also participate in very rewarding organizations such as National Honor Society, among others.…

I used to be a member of the National Honor Society in J.W. Sexton High School. We met twice a month to discuss about volunteering opportunities such as volunteering in the 40/8 veterans organization, which I helped out from time to time. In the 40/8 veterans organization, the people who work there make food for veterans to eat. I help out by washing the dishes. I also help out my church by assisting and participating in holiday plays, arranging food to be served every other Sunday, and maintaining a clean environment for the church.…

This trait followed me throughout the rest of my school years and I am thankful for that. However, I have never truly experienced a failure, I thought, until my junior year of high school. There are many clubs and organizations in my school, but the one I always aspired to be a part of was National Honor Society (NHS). To be in NHS, you need to have certain criteria in your background: leadership, service, academics, and character. After filling out the whole application and going through the interview process, I found out that I had been denied.…
