Beginning with AP World History my sophomore year, I was immediately overwhelmed by the new, more academically challenging class that I now had before me. Since then, I have added more AP courses annually and have now made my way up to six for the year. I was gradually overloaded with increasing amounts of work and material to read and study on a daily basis, making me question whether I may have bitten off more than I could chew. I now realize that taking these course taught me how important it is to take the time to focus on each subject whether through work or studying. With time and maturity, I have become accustomed to the rigor of these courses and have gained an understanding for the importance of prioritizing and not procrastinating. Our National Honor Society is very active in fundraising, donating, and charity; it is, therefore, an honor to be a member of such a generous organization. Keeping the demographics of our region in mind, we organize and attend countless activities to benefit the underprivileged. Seeing the struggles that these economically disadvantaged people face, especially around the holidays, really opened my eyes to my true advantages. Although I do not come from the most stable or successful family, I have been blessed with a certain degree of intelligence and a drive that is beyond most. I do not and will not take these qualities lightly because they are blessings that many people only ever hope for.
