When I joined my high school’s chapter of National Honor Society, I didn’t know what to expect. I knew only that it involved community service and improvement projects. After joining, I decided to run for office within the group to gain experience in assisting large groups of people. My work as communication secretary involved being at every NHS project, officer meeting, and at a wide variety of community service projects so I could communicate my experiences with the rest of the members. I had served as an officer for almost a year when our faculty adviser’s employment was terminated unexpectedly.
