As I made the varsity cheerleading team my freshman year, I did my best to help others around me. Not just because I wanted to, but because I wanted to see my team thrive and be the best they can be. Also while being a cheerleader, we would host cheer clinics where we teach children cheerleading. We taught them cheers, a dance, and how to do a proper jump. They loved being a cheerleader and being taught by their leaders. Our leadership skills helped us in teaching them and helped them become great little cheerleaders. Without our help, they wouldn’t have been able to have our knowledge in cheerleading and wouldn’t know what it was like to be one. Another way I have demonstrated leadership was through track. I am honored to have been selected as a candidate of the Pottsgrove National Honors Society. I believe that i represent the necessary leadership qualities, and exemplary academics to represent Pottsgrove. This year I was chosen among a small group of 10 students to help plan our Walkout for change on March 14th. This group was comprised of students showing leadership qualities that showed an interest in political advocacy and a want for change within our government. The entire group was student led and I along with the other student leaders planned exactly how the walkout would go and the days leading up to it.…

The National Honor Society is an organization that acknowledges and congratulates students with high educational standings and certain characteristics. NHS looks for people with traits such as leadership, people who are outgoing in their community, and people with a great quality of character. If I am selected to be in this group, I would contribute to the growth of NHS by spreading information about what NHS is to other students and teachers. Before I got this application, I didn’t even know what NHS was and what you do once you are in it. I want other people to know the importance of this group and how it can look good not just for when you apply to colleges, but to yourself as well.…

In order to be a true scholar you not only have to do well in school but you also should have characteristics that you work towards inside and outside of school. The five characteristics that you make you a good candidate for to be in NJHS are scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship Scholarship: James Russell Lowell once said, ¨ True scholarship consists in not what things exist, but what they mean; it is not memory but judgement.¨ I presume that this quote is true, because in order to be a true scholar, it is not all about remembering what the person in the front of the room is saying word for word, it is about understanding.…

I have had many significant leadership roles in my high school career. My senior year of varsity soccer I was elected team captain after displaying my leadership skills vocally and physically on defense. A proficient defensive lineup was an absolute necessity in the overall performance of the team and it was very important that I kept it functioning correctly. It was also important that the team could work together on and off the field so I often communicated with all the players to figure out any kinks or flaws that would lead to a disruption between my teammates.…
