PSA Essay Ambulance The existence of the organization National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970. The founder the organization is the U.S. Department of Transportation. From public service announcements to prevent texting and driving, the NHTSA is a credible source and organization since on a national scale. Specifically, NHTSA Public Service Announcement (PSA) titled “Ambulance” (See Figure 1) from NHTSA is quite effective by convincing drivers to stop texting and driving. The PSA is successful in logos through the color in the image makes a strict tone towards the audience giving it only two choices. Either they text while driving or they do not! In the PSA the black represents death and the white representing heaven. Giving a sense of good and a bad, and letting them choose a side. Another example of a visual input in the PSA is the text. The pun “You don’t want them responding to your text”(Ambulance) saying that if drivers text while driving they may get in a wreck and the ambulance will respond to the accident, but they make it sound like they are responding to drivers text like anyone else would basically implying that texting and driving will cost them their lives. …show more content…
The PSA is certainly credible for the fact that they are tied in with the Advertising Council thus proving that the author has permission to place the advertisement to the public and coming out as believable. The PSA also has a very authentic source which incorporates its credibility with its website. In the website there are tips on how to prevent texting while driving. It also gives facts about the drivers who text, and the casualties. The organization is not biased on the count that it does not talk about a specific gender, race, or age group but in general to all drivers. The (PSA) persuades fear in the audience to not text while driving or stop texting and
