Background Information about the Agency National Healthcare Corporation (NHC) was founded in 1971 by Dr. Carl E. Adams of Murfreesboro, TN. Their mission is “Care is our business. Care that respects the individual. Care that promotes recovery, well being and independence. Care that seeks to meet all standards of quality“ (National Healthcare Corporation, 2016). According to Dr. Adams, the purpose for establishing NHC was to place older adults in a caring environment free from the daily tasks of cooking, cleaning and in home maintenance.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NHC is Robert G. Adams. However, Mr. Adams released a statement in May 2016 that he plans to step down as CEO in December 2016. The preceptor I am assigned to is Regional Administrator, Mr. Tim Shelly. The building administrators at NHC Place at the Trace, Richland Place, NHC Hendersonville, NHC Gallatin, NHC Franklin, NHC Springfield and NHC Murfreesboro all report to Mr. Shelly regarding any legal issues, along with weekly reports about their population within their …show more content…
Shelly allowed me to visit different facilities and departments in Davidson County, Sumner County and Williamson County, all of which specialized in different areas from Skilled Nursing to Residential Living. Within the area at NHC Place at the Trace, I worked closely with the Director of Admissions, Debbie Huntzinger, who has been with National Healthcare Corporation (NHC) for over 20 years. Within this department, I was able to learn the ins and outs of who can and cannot stay at an Assisted Living facility, along with the rules and regulations. With the new facility opening, there were new documents and folders that needed to be created for administration and new residents. Mrs. Huntzinger provided me with an example packet from NHC Franklin and I was to recreate all documents for NHC Place at the Trace. This process was a very strict and detailed project, everything has to be flawless so that both residents and administration were on the same
