For example let’s look at a news article written by, Bill Pennington, found in the New York Times that focuses on the National Football League’s focus on their concussion protocol. The National Football League now operates on a new concussion protocol that was advised by doctors around the world. One change that has been made is that there is an independent neurologist that sits up in the booth (Pennington). Once the neurologist spots a concussion they immediately contact the team’s doctors, and then that players is taken out of the game, and then has to through the National Football League’s concussion tests (Pennington). This new concussion protocol might not have taken place, if it wasn’t for former players suing the National Football League over their brain injuries in the past. The book is entitled Test-retest reliability of the stability evaluation test (SET) of the VSR-Sport in a pediatric sample. In this book she discusses the stability evaluation test. She argues that by taking this test it could help determine whether a person is ready to go back into a school, and be able to learn the information the same way as they were before the concussion symptom (Hanline). After that, she argues that this would be a good idea, but this test isn’t as a reliable way to determine what impact the concussion will have on the person’s ability to perform the needed functions to comprehend the information (Hanline). In this book she states the kids in high school have more learning problems from a concussion than in younger kids. Finally, she basically argues that concussion do in fact have a major impact on a person’s ability to learn, and that the SET would be good to determine whether, or not the person can function to a stable level
