National Enquirer Scandal

On March 23 the National Enquirer recently leaked racy news to the public that claimed Ted Cruz was caught cheating with 5 secret mistresses. The sex scandal shocked Americans across the nation, given that Ted Cruz is a conservative republican senator from Texas. This type of strategic communication release is most definitely a leak as well as a way of negative campaigning. The 2016 election is one of the craziest, most entertaining elections in our nation’s history. Given this fact, many newspapers, magazines, and online journals try to dig up any dirt they can find on candidates to make their source seem the trustworthy and credible. The National Enquirer is a nationally known magazine famous for coming out with the latest scandals in all …show more content…
Only their hair was shown, leaving it up to America to identify the women. This most definitely was a strategic way to carry this leak forward because so many people become curious as to who they were. The more time people spend trying to identify the women, the longer the story stays relevant and in circulation. In fact, the leak went viral on Twitter with the hashtag #cruzsexscandal. Joel Luther, a recent Duke grad and aspiring politician journalist tweeted: “3 of Cruz’s alleged mistresses have been identified: Katrina Pierson, Sarah Isgur Flores, and Amanda Carpenter.” This tweet alone is huge, because those three names are now associated with the #cruzsexscandal forever. In addition, Conservative outfitters reported that “Drew Johnson of the Washington Times confirmed on Twitter Thursday night that two of Ted Cruz's mistresses named by the National Enquirer are accurate: COMING CLEAN: From what I know, at least 2 of the women named as Cruz mistresses by the National Enquirer are accurate #TRUMP #CRUZ #TCOT.” Overall this information can widely affect the debate and Ted Cruz’s campaign in negative ways. Sex scandals make a candidate look classless and unprofessional. He has been accused of cheating on his wife, not with one woman, but with …show more content…
Both of their wives got involved in a Twitter war (two potential first ladies in a Twitter war? Really?). In their article Ted Cruz Attacks Donald Trump—Wives Caught In The Middle!, the National Enquirer reported that “Cruz retaliated by calling Trump a ‘coward’ and Trump soon fired back by retweeting a side-by-side comparison of Melania and Heidi, with the caption ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’” The severity of all this based off of a single rumor is insane. Journalists can have a more powerful effect on candidate’s lives than one would ever

This week I chose an article called Huckabee: There Better Not Be Doritos at Your Super Bowl Party by Kelly Frazier. The article discusses presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's distaste for Frito Lay's partnership with the It Gets Better Project which is aimed at fighting anti-LGBT bullying and giving hope to those who are being harassed. People who donated to the It Gets Better Project would receive via mail a limited edition bag of Frito Lay's Rainbow Doritos. According to the article Mike Huckabee's issue is that Frito Lay is affiliated with Dan Savage however nothing else is mentioned. Thanks to an article from ABC News I found out that Huckabee and Dan Savage have had a tumultuous relationship for several years.…

Introduction I’m sure that many people these days have noted Mr. Trump’s battle or comments on Twitter have often been blown up into their faces by the media these days. In fact, it’s quite rare to find a news article that doesn’t include the infamous family name “Trump” either. It’s a constant ongoing battle between the Trump and media sources. After all, he had went from a big television personality to now becoming our president, which no one would have originally seen coming and is a particular nuisance to many as he both dislikes media and tends to make outrageous statements. Yet, many people within America and even outside of America tend to be attracted to this attention to Trump’s administration.…

While Hillary Clinton was the first woman to run for the United States presidential with the sponsorship of a large party, Victoria Woodhull was the first woman to run for the president of the United States in 1872 which was 144 years ago, and 50 years before women had the right to vote. The political life of Woodhull paints a picture of the challenges that women have faced in politics which are mirrored by other women, including Hillary Clinton. The two share similar political stands, especially when it comes to the national conversation of having strong stands concerning family, labor and as well as issues concerning women. They established lifelong projects to come up with emerging channels of communication. They also faced similar challenges,…

Scandals can either make or break your reputation. In the cases of Marion Barry and Anita Hill, the end result of their scandals were the opposite of each other. Marion Barry & his scandal are an example of how there is a legacy that can come from what is done during the process of the scandal & how the media plays into scandals after they happen. Anita Hill is an example as to how the media can manipulate someone’s side of the story. Throughout the years, the United States has experienced the reigns of many of presidents. Some of these presidents having the admiration of the public for being one of the best presidents, and some just have the scum left on the floor. In my opinion one of the best presidents we have had up to date was Lyndon B. Johnson for his hardy attitude, and having the knowledge to comprehend what he can and cannot do. The worst president goes to Bill Clinton for his wishy-washy, hardheaded decision-making, and for risking national security for personal affairs.…

The fashion magazine sat down with each woman individually to ask them questions about their presidential candidate parents. However, while the interviewer was easy going and light-hearted with Clinton, she attacked Trump and her father’s campaign policies (FoxNews, “Cosmo interviewer savages Ivanka Trump, softballs Chelsea Clinton”) In Clinton’s interview, she was asked about living in the White House, how her mother could get more millennials to vote, and how she responded to a comment made by Donald Trump about how her father’s infidelity (Gupta, “Chelsea Clinton Discusses the First Debate, Her Mom 's Pneumonia, and More”) Trump on the other hand was immediately asked questions about her father’s child care policy and why he’d waited so long to release the information, why the policy does not include paternity leave for gay men, and about her father’s comments from a 2004 interview where he supposedly said that pregnancy was an “inconvenience” to business. Clearly there was a major difference in the way these two interviews were conducted. Clinton’s was meant to be easy and promotive of her mother’s campaign, whereas Trump’s clearly attacked herself and her father’s campaign and policies.…

Many people testified, some more than once. The "Lewinsky Scandal, sensation that enveloped the presidency of Bill Clinton in 1998-99, leading to his impeachment by the U.S. House of Representatives and acquittal by the Senate" (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). It all started when Monica Lewinsky became an unpaid intern at the White House in June of 1995. By November of that year, Lewinsky and Clinton had been having a sexual relationship. Lewinsky had eventually went from being an intern to becoming a paid employee at the White House in the time span of a month (cnn.com).…

All the President’s Men, an investigative, nonfiction book by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, details the investigation into the Watergate scandal of the 1970s caused by President Richard Nixon and his team. By detailing the investigation of a burglary, recounting the discovery of a high-profile scandal, and revealing the importance of both anonymous and credited sources, Woodward and Bernstein analyze the factors that were necessary in exposing President Nixon’s part in the Watergate scandal. All the President’s Men argues that the foundation of a just society rests upon investigative political journalism. Furthermore, without the active pursuit of the truth powered by journalistic integrity and teamwork, the American public would be oblivious or unable to respond to illegal behavior in government.…

In those instances, the contestants could be found crying out of humiliation and devastation being compared to someone who was “stripped bare.” Another more recent example can be seen in 2015 with a remark about Hillary Clinton. He stated on Twitter that “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?” To defame someone because of their personal life and not their professional experience, especially in a sexist matter, is counterproductive language to be using. In both examples the rhetoric used by Donald Trump is harmful to gender…
