National Art Honor Society Reflection

Improved Essays
So far, my SCE has consisted of organizing and preparing for the start-up of this year’s National Art Honor Society chapter. In addition to inviting members to join and having our first meeting, I have been setting up for the upcoming induction as well as composing our bylaws to the NAHS constitution. As of now, I have not been able to work on my deliverable, as that project will come into play when the activities and events of NAHS begin for the school year. When those events begin in November, I will be able to construct the deliverable for my SCE. However, the beginning of my internship has been difficult in the fact that I have needed to take on more than one role with the students as well as my mentor, Ms. Prince. Since I am both a student

Back in middle school, I was a part of National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). We were the largest class to be inducted into NJHS. Being such a large class meant we would have to raise a lot of money if we expected to reach our goal. Our goal was to raise enough money for our trip to the Lead Conference at Washington, D.C.…

My third week at BNG Aesthetics consisted of designing Facebook ads, business cards, and surveys. At the beginning of the week, Stephanie asked me to design a Facebook ad for Radiesse, an FDA-approved dermal filler proven to immediately restore volume loss in the hands for smooth, natural-looking results that will not give away your age. After the ad was designed and approved by Natalie, I scheduled a time for it to be posted on Facebook and moved onto my next task. The next assignment focused on our Lunch and Learn Beauty Series events. Stephanie wanted me to design a survey asking customers about topics they would like to learn about at our Lunch and Learn events.…

The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…

When I went to the Smithsonian Human Origins Exhibit, it made me realize how much more I am informed about human evolution compared to most of the people at the exhibit. One thing was I saw on one the displays that Neanderthals were classified as part of the Homo sapiens lineage, which is not true. During our lecture you already told us that Neanderthals are not part of the lineage. Neanderthals are consider more like sisters than one of us. Also one of the speakers was saying how Homo heidelbergensis were 99.9% closely related to us, which is also false.…

Throughout this course I have gained more of an appreciation for artwork and the artists that create them. I have also gained an appreciation for the people that try to define what art is in general or more specifically what makes good art. We have read great thinkers and their philosophies on this, and the fact that even people of such great intelligence can disagree on the subject proves how challenging it can be. By reading the opinions of these great thinkers, and by discussing their thought with our class, I feel I am in a much better place as to define what makes good art myself. I define art as anything created by someone that inspires another to appreciation.…

I believe art must work in unison with science to generate a synergistic effect that improves the health conditions of humankind. Previously, I was never convinced that the sciences had any relationship to paintings, sculptures, or art in general. I have often associated scientists with words like “analytical” and “innovative”, and artists with “creative” and “expressive,” clearly distinguishing the roles they play in society: art as a subjective reflection of the world through different forms and science as an attempt to understand life on an empirical level. While art and science are typically considered to be separate entities, in truth they share a common goal: to better grasp the beauty and mystery of life. Although the ways in which these two disciplines pursue this goal may be different, there is no reason that these two segments of society cannot…
