I am a hard worker that will strive to help researchers meet all the goals that this organization hopes to accomplish. The skills and experience that I have described before will help me to do each task that is required of an intern. I am specifically applying as an intern to this organization because I enjoy working with children and I feel that this organization is serving the public. The GNC, Growth and Nutrition Clinic, is gathering information that can be used to provide proper treatment to children that are having developmental problems and to prevent other families from being in situations where the child is not getting the nutrition and care needed to grow normally. I want to be a part of this research that will aid other people because a job is much more gratifying when you know that you have helped…

As a student eager to get out of the classroom and experience working in the mental health field, as well as interact with those suffering from mental illness, an internship was the logical next step to gain this type of knowledge. Although this comes with its natural feelings of anxiety and inadequacy, the knowledge and life skills I’ve gained through this experience has helped me grow as a person, has made me feel more prepared to help those struggling, and has given me the skills to overcome such negative feelings in the future. My internship was with Crawford County Human Services, specifically spending my time with the Blended Case Managers (BCM), and for a small amount of my internship, the Family Case Managers (FCM). For a brief…

During my time within the Laboratory, I successfully reverse engineered three different Henkel products and completed a competitive analysis of an equivalent product. Throughout the research process, I used many different analytical techniques including High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry to quantitatively and qualitatively define the components in the products, documenting the processes and results as the research was actively conducted. I am currently interested in developing my knowledge and research abilities in the fields of Virology, Gene Therapy, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology. My primary area of interest lies within the study of microorganisms and their ability to cause devastating illness in Eukaryotic organisms. In my academic career, I have always been particularly fascinated with viral pathogens such as HIV and other agents…

My educational base as a junior at Dartmouth College has taught me to understand specific events or issues through a multifaceted lens. I believe this comprehensive viewpoint is important because to analyze isolated incidents, one needs to consider the environment and background that created such incidents. My studies in cultural anthropology and international politics have familiarized me with the complex nature of cross-cultural cooperation and political relations, both of which must be considered when working within a country on behalf of the US government. For the European and Eurasian Affairs Bureau, I would consider past and current events’ effects on emergent social and political issues and refer to my living experience in Russia in…

The Organizational Studies program at the University of Michigan appeals to me because I thrive in individualized and interdisciplinary settings. I’ve been enrolled in individualized honors programs at my middle and high schools and enjoy not having to follow a ‘cookie cutter’ schedule. Jumping ahead in English and Math allowed me the freedom to take AP Psychology, Life Management and Conflict Resolution. I love this opportunity to select courses interesting to me. It’s even better when my college criminology course lines up with my AP Psychology curriculum, and I get the chance to apply it all through the Peer Mediation program in Conflict Resolution.…

I yearned to view the world in a different perspective. I aim far beyond just experiencing the world first hand, seeing it through multiple lenses, and watching how it runs in the background. In fact, what I desire is to see where I must stand to give my maximum contribution to the global industry and multicultural understanding--a purpose I know I must serve. And this was what drove me to fly 8,500 miles from the Pearl of the Orient to the Land of the Free.…
