Analysis of a current event Kneeling for our National Anthem disrespects our country, embarrasses our military, and divides us as a country. Singing the National Anthem before football games has been going on for decades. Before 2009 the players didn’t come out for the National Anthem during primetime games. After 2009 all the players are “suppose” to be on the field for the National Anthem. This changed when the backup quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers decided to take a kneel in protest to the nations equality. His statement “ I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.

There were several teams that protested the opening weekend of the NFL. Mostly just players doing there own thing. It became a serious problem when President Trump made a comment about the NFL players kneeling during the Nation Anthem he said “ Get that son of b*** off the field right now, he’s fired. He’s fired!” The players reacted very seriously and violently to his remarks. The following Sunday every team played a different role in protesting. There were teams that didn’t even leave the locker room. President Trump shouldn’t have said this. Bottom line it was dying down and he just made it swell. The players that play in the NFL shouldn’t have kneeled though. This is there work place and they work for Roger Goodell the Commissioner of the NFL.
