The National Anthem represents the freedom that we have the in the United States. At sporting events we stand and salute the flag during the anthem to show respect for our nation and the troops that are defending our country. Unfortunately some athletes are in a “protesting” our nation by kneeling during the National Anthem. This act is showing disrespect to our flag, country, and the troops fighting for our country and it needs to stop. The United States of America is a place where we have men/women that fight for our freedom. The People who leave their loved ones to battle in a far off foreign country, with no concern of their lives. Sadly enough not all make it back to the warm arms of lady liberty. As we stand and salute the flag with the Star spangled Banner sung by a honorary singer, we thank and remember those that have fallen. To dishonor the flag, and the symbolism behind it is an ungrateful act. Great-great-great-granddaughter of the writer of the national anthem, Francis Scott Key stated that,"It just blows my mind that somebody like (Kaepernick) would do what he does to dishonor the flag of this country, and the national anthem when we have young men and women overseas fighting for this country".
