Although there are many efforts behind legalizing it in some states, others are still vigorously working to legalize it in others. The Marijuana Policy Project or MPP has been a key factor to the cannabis reform. The MPP contains two groups which are the lobbyists and the educational group. These groups support each other to become one by using tax-deductible funds. During the 2014 election cycle, the PAC’s $28,000 in donations – the most it has ever spent – went to politicians like Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), along with Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who have supported legislation freeing up access to medical marijuana and protecting state marijuana laws.
This meaning that there was a colossal amount of spending going into legalizing this, with the help of candidates running in election that supported the protection of cannabis laws as they had sufficient funds to do so.
Collectively there are many ways to persuade congress to prioritize important issues and turn them into national agendas. Using the major keys of incorporating the PAC organization that pertains to the issue and a group of experienced and persuasive lobbyist is critical to the standing point of such issues.
