The Nathalie Wolfe Pediatric Sciences Library In 1949, a group of women realized there was a great need for a ‘hospital for children only’ (Valley Children Hospital, n.d). By 1952, the hospital opened and served its first patient. With the success of the hospital, a larger facility was necessary. After a decade of planning and building, the hospital finally moved to its new facility in Madera County. One minute after midnight on August 31, 1998, the move to the new facility began and the creation of the Nathalie Wolfe Pediatric Sciences Library found its home within the hospital. With the moving times, the library facility has expanded and evolved in order to keep up with Nathalie Wolfe Science Library’s constant changes. It continues to meet and exceed the needs of its doctors, medical staff, and patients by keeping a proactive watch with current technological trends. The following report analyzes some of the historical factors that Nathalie Wolfe Science Library has had to confront in today’s perplexing times.

• Corporate supervisors wanting library to go digital, instead of print since most science journal articles are available via online
• Knocking down some bookshelves and replacing shelving with large computer training facility
• Weeding out print materials and making space for computers and projector screen
The renovation was also crucial for access to journal articles are available online. Therefore, the library doesn’t need more bookshelf space for the housing of their collection, but they also required new space for technology.
