Nathaniel Hawthorne Thesis Statement

Thesis statement: Nathaniel Hawthorne was a very famous man in the 1800’s who wrote dark stories and poems. “Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in a town named Salem, Massachusetts on July 4th, he was the son of a sea captain and a mother who own the stagecoach that ran between Boston and Salem.” (biography web) The real name of the Hawthornes is Hathorne but was later changed so they wouldn’t be related to the Hathornes in the witch times. Nathaniel Hawthorne was the only boy out of the family, he had two sisters. When Hawthorne was four years of age, they got news saying their father has died of yellow fever when he was sailing the sea. Following the death of his father, Hawthorne’s mother was depressed by the lost of her husband sending her to a state where she never recovered forcing them to go live with their aunt. Well they lived with their aunt, Hawthorne would go into the wilderness resort, where he would play as an indian. Their budding romance was very powerful, they believed that nothing and no one would take them apart from each other besides death. Sophia was an artist and a writer at the time when she met Nathaniel. Time went by with their love before they was married, because the lack of money they had, so Hawthorne would go take a job at the Brook Farm community where he would save his money. They were soon married on July 9th of 1842. Shortly after their wedding they would move back to Concord, Massachusetts and rent out the Old Manse, which would later on inspire him to write the From Mosses From an Old Manse .
