Furthermore, the appeal to ethos was made in the argument that sugar is addictive when scientific evidence was used to explain the dopamine reward system and the activation of different neural circuits upon sugar stimulation. The last minute of the speech was where I felt the most disconnect between the PowerPoint presentation and the speech. The slides were displaying key points from the presentation -which were mostly facts on the physiology of addiction- while the speaker began to talk about if we should give up sugar all together. This created a sense of overwhelming information, as the listener had to read the already excessive amount of information on the slide while simultaneously trying to absorb the spoken
