Nat King Cole's Song Called The Mona Lisa

Decent Essays
The Mona Lisa and Nat King Coles song called the Mona Lisa are very similar and mention many items that are related. Including line 5 in the song Mona Lisa it states that her smile is strange but we do not actually know what she is feeling or thinking of. That is still a mystery to this day of what the women in the painting was going through in her life at that exact time the painting was created and what was she smiling about. Nat King Cole asks Mona Lisa if she is smiling because of a lover or of a broken heart and really no one will ever know the true question. Lines 9-10 Cole implies that the painting looks so real and warm because Leonardo Da Vinci made her come to life, but she is just a person in a painting and not alive. Lines 7-8 Cole

To explain, in this painting, people’s eyes are led by the lady’s earrings and her long hair. And also, Ruben painted female figures such as Venus in the same way because they all have soft skin and long hair. One more important point is the naked lady stars at the viewers from the reflection instead of looking at herself in the mirror. Lisa Rosenthal uses art work such as Justus Lipsius and his Pupils to literally explain the relationship between Ruben and Lipsius.…

The two art works have vast differences but are centered around a woman in a somber like state of mind. Moreover, when analyzing both paintings it's clear that the women have the same pose. Although their facial expressions are different the placement of their hands are identical. I truly believe both artists have captured the women in two different lights. In the “ Wynwood’s Finest” piece, Abstrk has created Mona Loca in a sexually suggestive manner, given the thigh length, low bust-line dress, and the fishnet panty hose.…

When the poet Frances Scott Key saw the American flag gusting in the wind atop Fort McHenry in 1814, he was so in awe of what it represented that he crafted what would eventually become America’s national anthem, The Start Spangled Banner (Smithsonian). His lyrics eloquently illustrated the pride of an evolving nation and the resilience of the American flag, which served as the most exalted symbol of nationalism and civic pride. Two hundred years later, his brief moment of inspiration still provides Americans and potential immigrants in search of the American dream, hope and belief, that the United States is a land where dreams are fulfilled and freedom is everlasting. However, close examination of Key’s lyrics reveals an ironic paradigm shift…

I feel the song Compass by Lady Antebellum describes my character in a nutshell. It’s about following your heart not as much your head. It is about living life as it’s laid out, not how you think it’s supposed to be. I love this song because it also reminds you that someone will always be there when you need them. You may not know who they are, but I hope humanity has not yet reached the point where we leave another human being in need out on the street without offering any help.…

The painting that I chose from the gallery was The Penitent Magdalene, created by Flemish artist Abraham Janssens around the year 1620. I really liked this painting and was drawn towards it because the woman represented in it looks very sorrowful, upset, and perhaps even a little lonely, tear mark clearly visible by her eyes. Despite this, she looks like she is contemplating something important and troubling to her. Perhaps it could be an event in her life that has gone wrong? Her arm is resting on top of a skull, which adds a layer of mystery and intrigue to the situation.…

It is uncommon for anyone below the 1930's era to smile in a picture/portrait. If you look at many 1800's photographs, you will notice that they are in a more natural state than smiling. Think about it: most people just smile during a photo because it's a given, but sometimes people just aren't happy. So, the Mona was painted sometime in the 1500's/1600's right, then it's odd for her to be smiling. That's why it's such a phenomenon.…

Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael both formed the iconic dyad of the epitome of Renaissance art. In Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonna of the Rocks as well as Raphael’s rendition of da Vinci’s painting Madonna in the Meadow, a religious scene is depicted with Madonna gazes towards an exchange between Saint John and Jesus Christ in infantry as she realizes the grave future that Christ faces. While both paintings feature the same biblical figures in similar fashion, Raphael’s rendering takes on a brighter and lighter tonality and clearer disposition unlike Da Vinci’s more sullen, hazy, and darker painting. Nonetheless, both paintings portray an air of spirituality.…
